How to Use Fresh Manure in Soil
Apply manure to a garden plot in fall. The manure can be 2 to 6 inches deep.
You can also add garden compost or fallen leaves at the same time, and leave dying or dead plant debris.
Turn the manure into the soil the depth of a garden shovel. The manure will decompose during the winter months.
Turn the soil again in spring to mix the composted materials more evenly throughout the soil.
If you power tilled in fall, the materials should already be nicely mixed and you won't need to till again.
